Method
Narrative therapy
Looking at the stories we tell about ourselves, and finding room for new ones.
- What is it?
- We all make sense of our lives through stories: about who we are and what we can do. Sometimes a problem takes over the story ("I'm just an anxious person"). Narrative therapy separates the person from the problem: you are not the problem.
- How we work
- We explore the story you tell about yourself and look for what it leaves out, such as times you coped, resisted or acted on your values. From there we build a richer story that fits who you want to be.
- When it can help
- It can be useful for adults, children and families, especially when a problem has come to define a person or a family.
