Method
Systemic family therapy
Seeing the family as a whole, where each person affects the others.
- What is it?
- In systemic family therapy, a difficulty isn't seen as belonging to one person only. Families have patterns, roles and unwritten rules, and when one part changes, the rest is affected too.
- How we work
- Depending on what's needed, I meet the whole family, the parents or individual members. We look at communication, roles and boundaries, for example between siblings, in step-families or between generations, and try out new ways of being together.
- When it can help
- It can help with conflict at home, with big changes such as separation, a new family or a diagnosis, and when a child's difficulties affect the whole family.
