About me
Hi, I'm Katharina
My path into psychology began at Bournemouth University in England, with a BSc in Psychology and an MSc in Lifespan Neuropsychology. I then did placements as an assistant psychologist on closed forensic psychiatric wards at Isar-Amper Klinik in Germany, leading depression and anxiety groups and running individual sessions, and as an assistant neuropsychologist at Poole Hospital and Shelley Park Neuroclinic in England, helping people recover after strokes and brain injuries. For several years I mentored and led support groups at an eating disorder charity. I also worked at a residential school for young people with autism, run by Autism Wessex.
I completed a six-year integrated master's degree in psychology (cand.psychol.) at the University of Bergen, while working in child welfare services. As part of the degree, I did a placement at Tygerberg Trauma Clinic in Cape Town. I then worked as an educational psychologist in Nedre Hallingdal, where I assessed children's learning and development, worked with schools, health services and parents on practical support and individual education plans, and represented psychology on the regional resource team for autism. I founded and led the resource group for gifted children, and also gave talks at educational institutions on current topics, such as the use of technology in schools. I later completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Ethics at Stellenbosch University in South Africa. I've been in private practice since 2022.
Having lived and worked in several countries, I hold sessions in English, German and Norwegian. My approach is attachment-focused, and I draw on emotion-focused therapy, hypnotherapy and mindfulness, existential therapy, ISTDP, EMDR, CBT and many more, depending on your individual needs, therapy goals and how our sessions progress. I also like to share the thinking behind the work, and often recommend books, podcasts and articles that fit where you are. I like to work with other professionals when it helps, and I always explain any referral I suggest before making it.
My aim is to meet each person where they are, and help them develop the tools they need to manage their own challenges.
Psychologist authorised in Norway, HPR no. 10136286. Member of the Norwegian Psychological Association (Norsk psykologforening), the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Association of German Professional Psychologists (BDP).

I'm a mother and a wife, and I know first-hand how complex family life can be. I love board sports, trail running and the gym, make music, and keep myself grounded with prayer. I've lived in several countries besides my home country, which has given me a deep respect for cultural differences.
